RAGBRAI Takeoff
This morning we will meet at the Register to load up our goods and board the bus. We will travel to Missouri Valley and start the unpacking/setup routine that will become our daily ritual for the week.
Thirty-one excited riders will ride over with anticipation and concern. The first two days are hilly. We are prepared.
The riders who did not miss a training ride have over 1100 miles in. Most riders are hovering around 1000 miles of training. We missed a lot of rides due to rainy Iowa weather. I think that we cancelled more rides this year than any other year since I have been involved. We do have some tough long rides in that have prepared us for whatever we encounter.
At this time the weather looks to be great. Temperatures in the 80s during the day and then down to 70 or mid 60s at night. That is great sleeping weather. Good sleep makes all the difference.
Anticipation is great, That is almost over. Experience of the ride is the next emotion. Then accomplishment will top of the week when we meet the Mississippi with Smiles and Pride.
That is our mission
